That Darn Sneaky Wind

:!:
I think that I speak on behalf of many players when I say that the wind is very sneaky and aggravating. Some people have been blown out of dungeons because they didn’t realise or weren’t warned that the wind was coming closer. I just lost a soothe bell and about 5 tasty honey’s due to this +_+

So, I am going to suggest that a gauge appears on screen to clearly warn players how close the wind is, say, it could start off as a full green bar on every floor, and as you walk the bar goes down, eventually till it is empty, which is when the wind blows you out. This would resemble the bars which previously displayed your belly and health points, so I am wondering whether this request isn’t possible, since those bars were removed.
Should the staff decide to act on my suggestion, I think that many players would appreciate this a lot, and may prevent players feeling irritated with PMU.
Thank you for reading this.
/Edit: Another idea would be to have the warning appear in red in the chat box (Dandy’s Idea) and to have the PMD wind animations take place.

i agree with this, i have been blown away by the wind lots of times waiting for my freinds to catch up. and this is the best thing ive heard yet

If you were waiting, you wouldn’t be running around on the floor, advancing the wind’s progress.

But what’s better then being blown away by the wind? xD I quite agree with Onion, you should take your time and it says in the battle log as well to warn you.

But people don’t always check the battle log, and the battle log only stays up for 6 seconds. If it was in the chat it would be much clearer, because people check in the chat box often, and it wouldn’t disappear. Also, a gauge would tell you when you should start heading towards the stairs. And there is talk about the animations for the wind being used, which would be useful as well, and more like the PMD games.

Wise and Onion, the wind isn’t there to catch people out. Its so you can’t power train ._.

I agree :)
This would be a handy addition! It would make sure the player realizes how close the wind is.
When someone is focusing on training they are most likely not going to be looking at the battle log, (I rarely do).

I like the new idea Chalky added in her first post, and also, if It’s added, I don’t really get a picture; do you mean a monitor of the wind like, It’s near or something?

I definately agree that the warnings about the wind getting closer should appear in the chat box, in red, instead of the battle log. They just aren’t visible enough as they are now. When I train in the dojo, I almost always make a conscious effort to look at the battle log whenever it comes up purely because of this problem, and I still miss warnings sometimes. Just today, I almost died because I didn’t see the second warning.

Also, I suppose this is off-topic, but I have to ask: why were the HP bar and belly bar removed in the first place? I thought the belly bar in particular was very useful.

i think this is a GREAT idea! sometimes a player may attack a npc the same time of the warning so they cant see it!
(btw u can have a hp bar under u u just have to go to options)

Also, as far as I am aware, there is a notably loud sound effect telling you that the wind notification has popped up.

yes yes…but what if people have there sound off? like me. i cant hear a thing in pmu because the sound gets…well…a bit…annoying in my opinion.

Now that I think of it, yes, I do agree. Sometimes getting blown out can be harmful xD

Well, if you turn the sound off, it’s kinda your own fault for not noticing the warnings.

But sometimes we do but as well as noticing, if we did know and it came, we couldn’t move anywhere.

They are not trying to make people die in dungeons, just trying to prevent power training; so subtly informing the player that the wind is approaching just makes it easier for them to die. Plus some people do not like having the sound on. And if the warning is given right when the player defeats a monster house, the message has disappeared already.
I think that a more upfront way of telling the player that wind is approaching is a great idea! :D
This way people who are trying to train will know when their time is up.

I think there should be debris flying when wind starts to appear, just like in pmd games, and the closer the wind is the faster and more the wind can be

also for me the sound effects are delayed by a lot so it gets annoying but i have to agree that the blue
“Its getting closer!”
is a pretty hard hint to miss

Hmm, i also agree. The wind is a very rare sight for us to catch when we grind, or train. The wind itself should have a gauge bar,or may i suggest the message appears on the Chatbox? Maybe in big red colors saying, “Something’s Approaching…” As a player myself, it is quite bothersome to get blown out of the wind without being warned. A solution to this problem is either a Gauge on the wind, Or the wind message be put in the Chatbox. Because it seem’s large amount of player’s, hardly notice the wind’s messages on the Battle log.

Sometimes when you use too many moves the wind passes and we don’t see it.

agreed. 'specialy with thouse blasted mini monster house traps. in easter hc they’ve killed me,flareblitz, andy, and zappeh multiple times in hc.

(by the way. andy flareblitz and zappeh are the ppl that i went with in easter hc. i belive only me andy and zappeh finished the whole thing together. idk if flareblitz made it a bit after us or just gave up. idk really.)

Luli mentioned yesterday that the hp and belly bars were removed because they obscured some information which the staff needed to see when mapping.
And also, I hardly ever listen to the pmu music when I play, I would rather listen to my own music, so having a noise for the wind doesn’t exactly warn us that the wind is coming when we can’t even hear it.
