Exbel Plains Revamp: Suggestions /Errors/Ideas/feedback

This may be obvious now… We have been placing their efforts on improving our current maps. I’ve been really excited to see the final outcome! Right now, it’s been going pretty well~

What we are targeting:

[ul][li]making Exbel more easy to navigate rather than getting lost[/li]
[li]create a more interesting area[/ul][/li][ask]I was curious if players have any suggestions, ideas or have identified any mapping issues?[/ask]
[ask]What do you think about the current changes? Can it be improved? If so, why?[/ask]

[sub]I"m really eager on reading the responses you guys you have to offer! :][/sub]

Currently, the changes i have seen (crossroads and exbel coast/beach) have been, pretty good actualy. specialy crossroads. though i do have one little concern, the lack of signs pointing to dungeons. currently we have a few people asking ‘where is PBA’ or something like that, due to the lack of signs that point the way. maybe a big sign somewhere in town giving you the locations to the dungeons? (for example… IG. Right of town, need cut.)

I agree with Ribbon on the fact that players get lost easily when trying to find new Dungeons. Exbel is a large expansive area and that’s acceptable. The paths can be follows but I do think that more signs should be incorporated on those paths and perhaps NCPs to give hints to directions.

As for the Beach revamp, I think placing torches seems a bit unnatural and maybe a light colored path would work best? Or some stones in the sand to slightly indicate a path instead of making it completely with torches at a certain interval.

Very nice job with Crossroads though I think it feels strange to me - but that’s just me.

Amazing work, keep it coming!

~Agun.

If you haven’t noticed yet, along the paths there are signs pointing to the directions of different played. Like, the map above town has a sign right there that says what’s North, East, and South. Just thought I’d add this since you guys are mentioning people getting lost. :3

That’s nice - I haven’t played recently and do they hint where to get the HMs? Maybe an NCP that says “I saw a Bellsprout cut a tree near a cave north of town.” or something. Just a suggestion. c: No pressure.

^ Gotta’ thank Luli for making that happen ;D

That’s an excellent suggestion, I would definitely try to apply this somewhere in the futre.

Ah, I’ll try messing around and see if I can come up with something more fitting.

To my understanding That dungeon is supposed to me more obscure. If it helps, I plan on fixing some of the unneeded places around the location.

It is more fun if they change other Map like Winden.
And it is good if there are more town than Winden Outpost And Grassroot.

But those map change making PMU so Awesome!
Thank You Staff"s and Admin"s

First off I would like to say, thank you so much for this thread! Player contributionsss. <3

And… I love the additions!! They seem to add a fresh feel to PMU. It definitely makes the maps more interesting and unique. It was a pleasure discovering them.
I few little things that I liked especially was the Cliffside entrance and the boarded up beach house.

There were a few additions that I think need some extra tweaking though. P: (A few might be a little nitpicky… o-o;)

Beach:
-I feel like the two palm trees right after entering the beach that Seaside is on, are too close together. If possible, could they be moved one tile apart or something along those lines.
-I agree with PTD in saying that the torches look a little odd on the Seaside beach. Though, next to the boarded up house it looks fine.
-The stairs have a small cut-off error. (Seaside beach again)

Faded Relic Entrance:
-I like the addition of the hole with the trees! But past that part, it still looks a little bland to me… o-o; Maybe, like the older version, do a double layer?

Crossroads:
I like what was done here a lot, love the shape it takes. And the center circle looks really nice, but since you have that there, the area around it seems to be lacking something. I don"t have an idea for that though. This one is probably just me though. xD

Tiny Grotto:
This is probably obvious, but just in case it was unintended. The new additions the left and the bottom of Tiny Grotto are unfinished.

Winden:
I saw that the WInden Tundra was recently fixed, I just thought I would point out a few mask errors along the path in Winden Nivenath.

New things that I think could be added.

General:

  1. Couple random NPC shacks around PMU.

Just so things don’t so things don’t seem so deserted. It would also add some fun to getting lost here and there. Plus they could add hints to dungeons close by. And as more things get added their dialogue can change

  1. More rocks.
I feel like there are barely any rocks anywhere. And the only ones that are used, in some areas, are the only type. I really think that rocks could add a bit more variety. :3

Plains:

  1. Square cliffs
There are numerous square cliffs on the plains. I think they could be shaped more. The cliff complexities toward the winden area are a nice example of awesome cliffs. They could also be layered some more as well.
  2. Add more 4 grass clumps
The 4 circular grass “bushes” that fit on one tile could really add some zest to the plains. They are used in some areas, especially as you near Winden. But most of the time, they are lacking. Of course don"t spam them everywhere. owo
  3. Add a few tree clumps
I think that some trees clumping together would look nice. It would be a change from the constant scatter of trees.
  4. Add some Easter eggs here and there, be fun to come across. Like the Triforce.
The Triforce in town was something I enjoyed “finding”. I feel like a few random things like this in the plains could be fun. Just adding a few things that could make the player chuckle as they explore.
  5. More things to the pond/lake
The bodies of water in general seem to be very plain. I understand in the center of lakes it is usually all clear, but on the edges there are usually reads and other things of that sort.
  6. By PBA, since it has that tree, maybe start adding other larger trees. Maybe even ruins?
There is only one large tree there at PBA. Maybe expand on that theme and add more of them? owo
  7. More random arches.
Like the arch directly above town, there could be more of those scattered around on paths. P:
  8. More high fringed grass.

Winden:

  1. Add more snowy 4 grass clumps.
Like the normal 4 grass clumps I described above, more of those could be added.
  2. Snow rocks
A few more of those circular snow rocks, they are found in Winden Tundra, if that helps find them.
  3. Snow clumps
The addition of some snow piles could be a nice addition

Beach:

1 . Add more diverse rocks in the water
On the Seaside beach, there are a few rocks found in the water. but I think there could be a wider variety. And spread them along other parts of the coast.
2. Table
In my opinion, the 6 chair table would look better there. xD
6. Puddles on beach, kinda like tide pools.
I think puddles on the beach could be cool, like tidepools. And you could also just add some areas that are not puddle, but actual “tidepool” areas.
7. Maybe add some high grass.
M<aybe yellow, if you are fine with mixing the ones from the dungeon tileset
8. More starfish on the Western Exbel coast.
They could also be added in tidepools, if added.

Lol, sorry, most of these things were detail oriented…lol
If I think of any more generalized things, I will just edit it in. o-o;

Well, because the entrance has been revamped, I think that the inside of the evolution place (Forgot name) Before you go and and when you go in, should be changed a bit. Maybe, add more NPC"s so they can probably explain some stuff to you before you evolve. There could be a Chimecho assembly and a storage so if you forgot the pokemon you wanted to evolve or forgot your tablet, you could easily get them while you are there. The NPC"s would be pokemon that CAN evolve and explain some stuff about how to evolve and there could be 1 NPS that is nto sure about evolving, you know? That is all I have to say, thank you for reading :P

~im a person

@Char… I cannot find word to express how much this helps! -flails arms wildly-

That would certainly add more convenience. I’ll make sure to apply these in some matter.

Thanks for the support. We’ll probably be doing that way later, though.
