Instause command (shotcut)

i had a recently idea of a “instant item usage” for droped items in dungeons, helping the player consume or use them, so it’ll really make the gameplay more friendly when playing in “hardcore” or tight situations, Examples:

1st: “You’re getting dizzy from hunger.” and you have no food in bag, but looking around has a plenty amount of seeds and random berrys to eat, so its a good idea ate them all, but picking each one and going into menu to “use it” is very boring and time consulming, you can ever be surprised by an evil poke during this process.

2nd:I want to use any orb of i find in the way to make the enemys dizzy/sleep, or ever throwing they far, but i already have equiped itens so changing them is boring, also you can noticed the most use for these orbs (particulary for me) is selling in shop.

3th:eating seed to get theyr bonuses, also the bad sides too since its a risky eating acidentaly an oren berry, warp or doom seeds (i actualy never see a doom seed), and this may open the game to have some evil variant seeds (blink and some other effects).

this bind can be placed at Q since WASD is used for attack and its close to the normal commands.

NOTE: i think of this command need to do nothing when used ouver sticks, scarfs, revivers and alike and decrease the orb apaerances in 20% to make it not so abusive. (sorry if my inglish was hard to understand)

Your idea isn’t bad, but seems really complicated to make, let me explain:
we’d need different buttons for each items, because having a button for one kind of items would make the feature unreliable and no one would use it.

Which kind of orb? just the first one in inventory? It could be a cleanse orb, a slumber orb, or even an escape orb! These 3 orbs are used in very different circunstances.

Then we"d have the set 3 buttons? One for the orbs affecting foes, one for the orbs affecting items, and one for escape orb/rope.

Now apply this to every kind of item. I doubt there"s even enough buttons on this keyboard for everything. Seeds to eat, berries, throwable items, Joy Sword, Honey…

Instead of having instant-use buttons, I suggest two things:

The first one, may not the most needed but still:
Having, like in the regular PMD games an option named “Ground” (I’m not sure about the name, I’m only translating). It allows the player to choose what to do about the item he’s standing on: Use, Throw, Pick Up…

The second one, that could be more useful:
As you may know, the only option we have to throw “throwable items” (I’m talking about rocks and sticks and maybe seeds, not TMs and all the other things we can throw). Just like for the precedent feature I suggested, we could choose a stack of throwable items to equip, then throw them by simply pressing a button. With this option, we wouldn’t have to make one of our team member hold them.
To improve these features, maybe Blast Seeds and other stuff you can throw at foes could be made stackable.

i suppose you dont get what i mean, i know of you can use the controls ZXCV to use the itens of each pokemon in team but i supposed something like it. i’ll exemplify better:

You have NOTHING IN BAG and you find a apple, you want to eat it, what you do:
you stand ouver the apple, you press the ENTER key to pick it up, go in inventory, select apple, and use it.
my idea:
you stand ouver the apple, you press the special key (Q) and you intantly eat it whitout ever putting in bag.

that is what i suppose, so it can be of use for like orbs and berrys DROPED AROUND THE FLOOR, the Q command of i supposed is to instant use the item where you are if you are standing ouver one, otherwise it does nothing also it wont work in scarfs, stick, diamonds and etc, only orbs and food.
For me it looks very simple and very usable too.

Thinks about all the times i’ve nearly died in TC scrounging around 5 pages of inventory for hard to notice little seeds/berries because no apples appeared…

Don’t worry I understand what youre talking about and I like this idea a lot. It would make using ethers easier with a full inventory. Instead of using from bag and then picking it up you could just use it straight from the floor.

Only downside I can think of is if you’re in a party people might just use the floor items whether they need to or not because it’s way more convenient, meaning people who need the items may be disadvantaged (They could always just ask to leave some stuff).

This is REALLY high on the list of things that would make dungeons more fun. I cant tell you how many times i got a full inventory but theres an ether on the ground and its already annoying trying to keep track of how much pp you have but it would be a waste to use a max ether when you almost have full pp just to get that one, yet I hate having to leave it there.

Same for apples and gummis, I never use these while Im a ghost type because its pointless, but if I could just eat them real quick itd be a nice floor bonus.

Im always trying to use my ethers when I really need them, but since I am absent minded what usually happens is I run out of pp in the middle of a mob.

The coding to use an item on the ground seems quite simple, actually. I bet a coder could add it without too much trouble. Just have it consumed if a certain key is pressed.
