Alchemy, maybe?

Seeing as there’s still a lot of poke in circulation and we need to change that, how about an item crafting thing?

I don’t have all the kinks worked out, but say for 1k, a blast seed and ten oran berries, you could make a reviver seed and that’s the most basic recipe. To get more recipes, you’ll have to have at least 10k per ‘book’, which gives 2-5 recipes, and the cost increases depending on how many recipes are in a book + the value of items that can be made.

This alchemy mechanic could be used to synthesize gems and globes for a decent sum of money, probably 50k-100k, and for gems, a dust and a silk of the same type, while for globes, a gem, a silk, and a dust of the same type. While yes, this might make gems and globes a bit less expensive, it creates a much needed money sink.

Sounds interesting, actually. It’s kinda creative and would maybe make pmu an interesting place (: Though, staff may not agree with this since it’s like common item + common item = a rare item. Actually getting x amount of a common item would be an effort. So maybe.
Perhaps coding it would be hard, ik nothing of coding, so idk.

The reviver seed one was the most basic, plus price would scale depending on how rare the item is. That, and rarer items will have a rarer ‘main’ ingredient, if that makes sense, haha.~ Kind of like how globes could have a gem as the ‘main’ thing you’ll be boiling down or whatever, along with a silk and a dust.

((Now that I think about how this could work, if it can be coded… it would be kind of cool if you could fuse all the fossils minus sail and cover together with a silver key to make the key to a really rare dungeon, though.~))

For getting poké in check or not, the alchemy mechanic is a really interesting idea nonetheless giving less popular items a use even in late game. It could also be useful for new players maybe say to craft out an evolution stone of choice in exchange of a number of geo pebbles + some poké. Also the idea of dungeons unlockable through exclusively this method sounds really exciting as well

This sounds like other game’s “Jobs” or “Skills”, it actually sounds pretty good!

Maybe, there should be more than just one skill/job and it’s be good if they supplement each other. Creating items from items we all can get in-game sounds fairly easy if you ask me, I am thinking that maybe an opposite skill would be a forager or a gatherer, and you could pick up specific items that the Crafter needs to make the items. That way both Crafters and Foragers need each other. Maybe these skills could also be level based, the better your skill is, the better items you find or the better items you can craft.

But yeah, seems like I went too far…lol.

Tldr: I like the idea, was just tossing some of my own ideas there :B

Having players be able to specialize in ways could help encourage players to work together. A mighty positive for any online multiplayer game!
I support the idea and I like Coki’s contribution to it.

I think that since, we pretty much get all the ingredients anyway, so basically we’re all foragers already, maybe we could specialize on the crafting part?
You could specialize in crafting evo items, specialize in crafting edibles like reviver seeds, TM crafting (used TM’s would form the base of each recipe), Key crafting (silver keys, prhaps other keys… we could have keys unlocking certain rooms in dungeons like in PMD gates to infinity maybe), hold item crafting.
Depending on the specialisations we could perhaps have a limitd pool of points to max out at least one of these specialisations and have some left for maybe one more to spend or spread, though spending on two would be most rewarding perhaps. Kind of like how IV’s max out in the main games. Your pokemon specialises on attack and speed and has a few points in special defence maybe.

Also, I am reminded of Crogunk. Perhaps crafting could be done in a couldron owned by another frog pokemon who could be a rival of crogunk.

The idea of jobs or skills sounds very cool about PMU and would definitely enhance its RPG genre. Alchemy to get evo stones sounds pretty useful for early players (like myself) who had to beg older players for spare evo items or cheap prices… This even affects starter choices, most notably Rhyhorn, who have to stay unevolved for pretty long time. My motto is the more RPG the better!

Also, a rival of Croagunk, e.g. a Palpitoad or poison type sounds neat.
