What does it mean to be staff?

By being a part of the PMU staff team, you have the responsibility for making PMU a fun, safe, and enjoyable game for players of all ages. You will also be helping to develop and test new elements of the game. Do not think of this job as an easy one, while it can be fun and simple at times, it involves a great amount of dedication and patience. For example, if you are a mapper, you may be spending more time mapping than actually playing the game. Before applying, think about whether or not you are willing to give up playing the game to work on it’s development, and whether or not you will be dedicated enough to join, and remain a part of, the PMU staff team.

The Application Process

There are usually three (3) steps in the application process. First, you will submit your application to the staff members listed below. Then, your application will be reviewed by the PMU staff and it will be voted on. If a majority of the staff agree to your application, you will then be interviewed in-game. Afterwords, we will vote again, and this time, if a majority agree, you will be given the position you applied for.

How to Apply

  • [li] Create a resume using the questions provided below. Remember to maintain the same format when answering questions, and try to have each answer at least a paragraph long.

    [/li]
    [li] Wait for a response!

The Resume

Note: Remember to answer the following questions truthfully and with as much detail as possible. Your resume will provide our first impression towards you, so make it look good!

  1. What is your in-game name?

  2. How long have you been playing?

  3. What job are you applying for?

  4. Why do you want this job?

  5. What previous experience/skills do you have that may be useful?

  6. What other things do you like to do in your free time?

  7. What other personal information do you think we ought to know (age, gender, etc.)? (optional)

8.Have any sample works you wish to share? (for visual or music positions)[4+ examples needed for mapper position or graphic designer or music composer]

Tips & Advice

  • [li] A major reason for turning down applications is how short they are. Not everyone is good at making great points concisely, so try to expand and elaborate as much as possible.
    [/li]
[li] Avoid repetition. The resume questions are to understand you better. Restating what we already know gives the staff very little to work with.
    [/li]
[li] All staff positions require a lot of effort. Your application should demonstrate (in any way you can think of) that you’re willing to put in effort into the position.
    [/li]
[li] If this isn’t the first time you’re applying, don’t send in your old application(s). Make changes, make a new application if you want. Try to address the issues/weaknesses that may have resulted in getting you rejected in the first place.
    [/li]
[li] Avoid getting too personal or too instanced. The staff team struggles to maintain at least some sense of professionalism. It would be in your benefit to respect that.

FAQ

Q: I was rejected! Now what?
A: If you were rejected for whatever reason, don’t worry! You can still re-apply, either for the same position you previously applied for or a new one. You can only re-apply once every month, so use that time to practice for your position.

Quick update: we’ve slightly modified the process to actually submit your application. Rather than sending individual PMs to the admins, please send applications to the Applications group. Everyone involved will then automatically receive those messages.
