MrJustified's Arena Tips

Welcome to MrJustified’s Arena Tips.

This guide is solely based on strategies and tips in the Arena, and I will post even better tips occasionally.

Let’s begin.

Competitive Pokemon 1

Salamence

Overview
Salamence is a Dragon and Flying-type Pokemon. You would likely see why this Pokemon is recommended, it has very fine Attack and average HP to go with it. It has Moxie, so that means KOing will only grow easier and easier (considering you have no enemies running around with Clear Smog). It is also noted that due to this Dual-typing, it is 4x weak to Ice typed attacks. That means any Ice Beams coming your way is going to hurt bad. The suggested kind of Moves and held Item you want are;

Moves and Items
Salamence@Life Orb / Weather Band / Persim Band

Outrage
Outrage is a Move that basically a whole chunk of Pokemon can get, but even more useful on a Dragon. Persim Band is included in this kind of strategy to completely shrug off the Confusion you get when you finish your rampage. It’s hit-box is also very fine, good luck getting up close though.

Flamethrower or Fire Fang
Flamethrower is for some range and good power as well, no worries considering there are no Natures. Mixed attacking is never a bad idea when your stats are all neutral and to the max. You will not be getting the precious Moxie boosts though to it.

Fire Fang is less power, but you can flinch AND Burn, it is mainly recommended for the Moxie boost, but again good luck getting up close. Other than Moxie, not much use for it unless you run Dragon Dance (which is pretty useless when you consider Moxie.)

Earthquake
Earthquake is something that most Pokemon should be running, if they’re the kind of attacker Salamence is. Besides, it’s great range, and great coverage! Who wouldn’t want to leave their enemies… quaking in fear?

Hydro Pump
Hydro Pump will take a few Heart Scales but it most likely well worth it. Hydro Pump will hit Charizard nicely and also any Ground-types that you can’t hit, generally additional coverage.

Role and Uses
The Salamence set is meant for mainly solo purposes, considering Salamence can really punch holes in different kinds of teams, PMD or not.
Life Orb is for more power to what you already have, but probably not the best idea when you consider you’ll be losing some HP each hit, but it shouldn’t take too many hits to knock out a Pokemon.

Weather Band is to generally escape the Hail or Sandstorm damage. Not much use though when there is to consider being above level 45 tops can ensure survival in that kind of weather, still annoying though.

Persim Band is only for Outrage hax. Thrash is… not that much recommended. Who uses Normal-type Moves on a Dragon anyway?

Conclusion

Well guys, thanks for taking your time to read these and others I may post! (This is for the Arena. Please do not reply with things such as maybe how things were nerfed, after all, a good 67% of battlers in Arena can deal with it.)
Thanks in advance! Salamence is a Pokemon that can be used appropriately in The Arena but just keep a check on those Ice-types.

Please do not make any replies unrelated to this topic and your suggestions, I request, should be related to this thread. If your suggestions also lack any detail or are nonsense, they will be ignored as well as any comments not relating to this very thread.

Competitive Pokemon 2

Hitmonlee

Overview

Hitmonlee… is pretty much that kind of Pokemon that is defined a “glass cannon”. I guess you could use it to maybe dish out a lot of damage, but other than that… I pretty much have nothing. I mean, Hitmonlee does not take Physical attacks well, it has commendable Special Defense, but it’s Defense… it’s even worse than Farfetch’d’s Defense. In any case, that doesn’t mean he has no use, it just means you should not use him to take hits / stick around for too long.
At least there’s Reckless Hi Jump Kick.

Moves and Items
Hitmonlee@Life Orb / Pecha Scarf

Pecha Scarf? Really? Yeah. Nice status hax. Only leaves you susceptible to Burn and Sleep. But at least you aren’t steadily losing your health or not being able to run (which considering PMU you will be doing a lot of that.)

Hi Jump Kick
Hi Jump Kick is the Move Hitmonlee was built for, at least for being given Reckless. Equip a Life Orb and start Hi Jump Kicking things, Hi Jump Kick everything, destroy everything. STAB and Reckless, you know you’ll do good.

Stone Edge
Stone Edge is what practically all Fighting type Pokemon should run no matter what. You surely want to take down those Flying, Bug, Fire types. Flying and Bug of which is super-effective and not very effective respectively. Generally, you need this. No need to worry about range as HJK will be the one to get you up close. Imagine it like a combo.

Sucker Punch
Sucker Punch is just yes. Hitmonlee has the priority and power Dark type Move not many other Fighting types got other than Paybacks and Flings. To my knowledge Sucker Punch works if they are not directly one space in front of you. Kinda like take a step back turn and Sucker Punch. It’ll take time to get used to, but it’s good for those pesky Alakazam and Froslass in your way.

Blaze Kick
Blaze Kick has only one purpose on this set; Skarmory and Forretress. Although both are not that common, you need Blaze Kick to take them down period. Also, you can now thrash Breloom to bits and take down Venusaur and Sceptile.

Roles and Uses
Hitmonlee as well is solo, Hitmonlee’s use is to hit things. And that’s it. You are not stalling you are not walling you are not tanking and you are dang sure not staying in a match. You are going in, hitting things hard, until you faint.
Life Orb is taking some extra damage at the cost of HP.

Pecha Scarf is ensuring you don’t get annoyed other than Burn and Sleep. Just be wary of Breloom and it’s Spore. Or you’re done with a Bullet Seed or a Mach Punch.

Conclusion
Speaking of Breloom… :>:D:

Competitive Pokemon 3

Scizor

Overview
Scizor is a Bug and Steel type Pokemon. KILL IT WITH FIRE. …Nah that’s not the case with Scizor. Scizor is a Technician abuser, and that much is true. Although most Technician-Moves are close up, who cares? You’re abusing Technican and putting more power into STAB moves that are also coverage. Simply kill with Scizor.

Moves and Items
Scizor@Life Orb / Flame Plate / Expert Belt

Bug Bite
Bug Bite is probably what a Scizor abuses the most. 60 Base Power, just the maximum for a Technician boost. You now have over 100 base power with that attack. Imagine this with Swarm? I call ownage. Simply put… Bug Bite with Technician on Scizor is a very strong STAB Move that should not be underestimated.

Metal Claw
Metal Claw if you happen to wonder why I am not including Bullet Punch, it’s that there’s no real thing as revenge killing. Use a 50 base power Metal Claw with Technician and possibly get a Attack boost, you are on your way for more Technician abusing. Though not the best coverage either, you are still hitting things extremely hard.

Swords Dance
Swords Dance should be bringing you back to the days where when you saw “??? used Stat Boosting Move!” and everyone got out their Clear Smog Koffing, and chased you trying to spam it. Get a boost of Swords Dance, start owning things, except things that happen to have Intimidate, although stat drops do not matter for now, you’re still losing your Swords Dance boost down to neutral. Which is where this comes in!

Superpower
Superpower is a fine Move, even with it’s range it’s still nice. It’s like a Close Combat. Fighting Moves are always the coverage. Remember that. Use it with Swords Dance. With this set the only thing resisting you is… Charizard.

Role and Uses
Scizor is nice as a close up attacker, you can still use things like Silver Wind or X-Scissor but neither support Technician as well as Bug Bite does. You’ll find your ways around a lot of things. U-turn is also wonderful, to hit and jump back.
Scizor has great Attack, good Defense, not too tight on Specials. Avoid getting your abdomen burned by a Flamethrower or any Fire Move, even Flame Plate will not be saving you.

Conclusion

Overall, Scizor is a cool Pokemon that mainly has Technician abuse to it. Weaker Moves with lower range, but a lot more power to it. Learn to use Scizor and you’ll get the hang of it.

Competitive Pokemon 4

Infernape

Overview

Infernape is one of those Fire and Fighting-types all the starter fans have a problem with. It must be even more harsh to know Infernape is also one of the most chosen and most popular starter Pokemon that made it to the top fair and square. Infernape is our favorite mixed attacking fire ape. Let us journey into Infernape’s land of it’s Iron Fist.

Moves and Items
Infernape@ Life Orb / Expert Belt

Close Combat
Close Combat is obviously one of Infernape’s best Moves it has. When paired with Iron Fist, you have no real chance. It’s too powerful. Super-effective hits from it, you’re likely done, even Pokemon that are neutral to it still suffer greatly from this ape’s ape rage. Only those not very effective can hope to live a Close Combat with more than half their HP still running.

Fire Punch
Fire Punch is only for Infernape because Infernape pretty much needs it. STAB and Iron Fist together make it somewhere like a physical Fire Blast or a physical Flamethrower put in one tile. It’s just a good choice for Iron Fisting things.

U-Turn
U-Turn is the kind of Move you use when you want to hit them and relax a while. Use U-turn mainly for Psychic types or just to back up and heal some. Good with a Heal Ribbon may I add, you put a dent in them, jump back (most useful if you’re up close to an opposite sided wall) and run for a minute. Then go back, begin Iron Fisting again then jumping back again.

ThunderPunch
ThunderPunch says hello to Iron Fist once again. No Water or Flying type will plan to leave alive when you give them such a Punch. You can always throw U-turn away for Swords Dance or Bulk Up, but then that too is only Haze or Clear Smog bait.

Role and Uses
Infernape is kind of like Mario, but more advanced in offenses. Average at most things and good at attacking. Generally, attack, jump back, attack, jump back.
Infernape is a mixed attacker, do what you want for it. It has a lot of possibilities. … Why did this guy get Calm Mind and Bulk Up? A big duh for a mixer.

Conclusion
You can use this guy anytime, anywhere. A very good choice for some nice punching action.

Competitive Pokemon 5

Rampardos

Overview
Once upon a time, back in Hoenn, when Slaking was born, and Deoxys was born… all of the strongest Attackers had a flaw. Slaking had Truant, Deoxys had terrible defenses in all offensive forms, Regigigas had Slow Start, and Rampardos… has terrible stats other than Attack, which is 165 base. Rampardos is apparently the second strongest Pokemon in terms of Attack, behind Deoxys Attack form. When this was first heard, everyone said OP Uber. But then the other stats came, all of them barely above 80. Rampardos is just a powerhouse version of Hitmonlee except worse in terms of defensive stats. You could however, do something with that nice Attack stat it has.

Moves and Items
Rampardos@ Life Orb / Heal Ribbon

Curse
Curse will boost your Attack and Defense to walk around finally being able to take hits and obviously give them. No need to worry about speed, not only does it not matter if speed drops, speed does not do anything too important. So yeah, might as well use this, it’s what you have anyway.

Head Smash
Head Smash once upon a time, Rampardos thought, “Hm I need a good Rock type move” and then Head Smash appeared. Head Smash is a Rock type Flare Blitz and when used with Rampardos… survival is almost 0%. STAB and so much power.

Fire Punch
Fire Punch remember I said Rampardos had terrible stats other than Attack? This counts for the Moves. Fire Punch is some coverage, even though most Rampardos would rather spam Head Smash anyway. Because they can and because it’ll likely smash down threats but there’s always some Pokemon that pose double threats like Breloom and Scizor and the likes, not to mention Sheer Force boosted.

Earthquake
Earthquake When Rampardos was a Cranidos, his mother told him that all Rock types must use Earthquake. It seems to have paid off. Anything is good with over 150 Attack.

Role and Uses
Glass Cannon V.10 testing. Yes, Rampardos is another glass cannon but probably the largest aside from Slaking you will ever meet in this game. I believe it’s the strongest at the moment. Not much use on it though, like I said, surviving is not for a Rampardos. In any case, you can beat the heck out of others with it though. Have fun bricking everything! Speaking of bricks, you can try Brick Break too.

Conclusion

Not much to do other than crash things with this guy. That’s it for about another three or so hours.

Nice guide, but I think most of your choices are quite obvious ones. Try looking for Pokemon that wouldn’t seem strong, but can actually pose a massive threat in the arena. My personal favourite would be Zangoose; it has only one weakness which is Fighting, and it’s abilities coupled with it’s range of attacks makes it one of the best physical attackers. My strategy for it is:

[spoilerZangoose:29vy1gdh]Held item: Toxic Orb - With Immunity, it takes no damage from poison, and it"s attack stat is boosted by 50% when it"s poisoned.

Attacks: Giga Impact - 150 base power, which with STAB adds another half, putting it up to a massive total of 225 power. It"s also a 2 tile spray with no hit freeze, meaning that it"s pretty easy for you to hit your opponent, while still being able to dodge their attacks.

Sword Dance - And this is the main part of our moveset. If you can make the time to max Sword Dance, then there is no chance your opponent will be able to withstand your attacks.

Dig - Though it"s 80 base power is on a much lower level than Giga Impact, Dig is still a very useful move for Zangoose. Despite it"s massive attacking ability, it"s defence is rather weak. Also, it cannot regain HP, because it"s poisoned. When using Dig, your opponent can"t attack you, so if you can aim it properly you have the upper hand. It is also good for taking out all the Fire-types and Electric-types that are so often in the arena.

Giga Drain / IcePunch - Giga Drain is only in the moveset for the same reason as Dig. You can"t regain HP from running around, so Giga Drain can at least help you regain some of the health that you lost. It is also good because you see quite a few Ground-types in the arena. IcePunch has 75 base power, which isn"t bad. It"s a 2 tile LoS with no hit freeze, and is good for taking out all those Ground- and Electric-types that are always in Arena.

[/details]

Basically, my point is that most useful Pokemon aren’t always the most obvious ones.

Nice work on this guide but if I have to say something about arena tips, heres something shorter that many ppl will agree with. Anything can own in the arena. All you have to do is create a good strategy, know your pokemon well, and try o counter your weaknesses.

that is a shorter version of arena tips.

And here, Jay is giving us a “good strategy” and various recommended Pokemon. His whole guide shouldn’t just be “Make a Good Strategy, Know Your Pokemon Well, Counter your Weaknesses.” He should elaborate on that, and that’s exactly what Jay is doing in great detail. P:

Competitive Pokemon 6

Cacturne

Overview

This Pokemon should bring back some Hoenn memories. Cacturne has a strange typing of Grass and Dark, and is weak to Flying, Fire, Fighting, Poison, and even Bug by 4x. Don’t let this repel you however, Cacturne is a great mixed attacker as well.

Moves and Items
Cacturne@Big Root / Life Orb / Heal Ribbon

Drain Punch
Drain Punch is a recommended move in that it has nice coverage, and also heals back your HP. It’s a great Move in general.

Growth
Growth is only recommended by me because in the Sun, you get a 2x Offensive boost. You need this, you simply need it. Besides, when there is to consider the fact your Attack may get growled away you still have your Special Attacking dignity.

Bullet Seed
Bullet Seed is not simply some weak Move here. It’s fast and with good range, plus STAB, and if you got a 2x Growth with this you’re going to be taking things DOWN. You most likely require a Heart Scale for this though. But otherwise it’s still a great Move and should be considered.

Dark Pulse
Dark Pulse is STAB, Special, deals with things your Drain Punch and Bullet Seed cannot, namely Charizard, who seems to resist a lot of things. Dark Pulse will do great damage on even those who are neutral to it, considering you got in a Growth or two.

Role and Uses
To be honest, Cacturne is not a bad Pokemon at all. Sure there’s that stinging 4x Bug weakness but Bugs are not that common nor are Bug typed attacks. Life Orb is for more damage. Big Root, which I use is necessary for Drain Punch and Giga Drain if you ever use it. You’ll be lacking in range though.

Conclusion
Cacturne is not only a good Pokemon to use, but try Poisoning it and staying still. You’re likely going to be scared.

Competitive Pokemon 7

Kecleon

Overview
Everyone knows that Kecleon was the Pokemon in practically all Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games that, if you got something and could not pay for it, you would pay by fainting. Unless you got to the next floor, you’d have 2x Speed 255-stats Kecleon spawning everywhere and rampaging. You would be running with their goods, and they would simply say ‘GET THAT THIEF BRO’. But then again, you likely would not survive from the moment the clerk yelled “Thief!” Kecleon is a Normal-typed Pokemon. What gift Hoenn has given it, and only it, is Color Change. Get hit by a Move, change to that Move’s type. Simple. And because of Color Change, the choices I will give will be quite common; only because it’s Color Change haxing.

Moves and Items
Kecleon@Heal Ribbon, Power Band, Zinc Band? (Correct me for the Sp. Defense booster)

Drain Punch
Drain Punch makes a return, only for some Color Change abuse, a Normal type is most likely going to be smacked with a Fighting type Move, so when you’re slapped by one, you’re now a Fighting type and use Drain Punch STAB until you get hit again. Healing by the way, that’s cool too.

Ice Beam
Ice Beam is here when there is to consider maybe, someone spamming Blizzard or just happens to use Powder Snow or tries to Ice Punch you with a Water type. Ice Beam is here because it’s quite common lately, so if you get hit by it you become an Ice-type and eh, you can now abuse Ice Beam for yourself until hit.

Flamethrower
Flamethrower is another common Move, when you get smacked by a Fire move, you are now abusing Flamethrower for yourself once again. You can Burn too but that’s a 10/100% chance. You need true hax on your side to be Burning.

Shadow Ball
Shadow Ball is necessary for Ghosts you cannot hit. Imagine you got turned into a Psychic type, and a Ghost used a super-effective Move. (Kecleon’s Special Defense is like a Blissey, don’t worry. Can’t say that about it’s Defenses though.) You are going to throw Shadow Balls around, abusing it for yourself once again.

Roles and Uses
Kecleon is mainly the one that will want to take a hit for Color Change then fire back with a ranged Move. If you want you can go absorb any Special Moves other than Focus Blast that comes your way, and then use Color Change for that as well. Heal Ribbon can let you stay alive by running around, Power Band supports Drain Punch and Zinc Band? gives more Special Defense and maybe a Normal Dust as well. Kecleon can stay around for a while.

Conclusion Kecleon is pretty sneaky. It can send back things it got STAB on, then switch to another type for more STAB. You’re abusing the typing concept for your Moves. Kecleon is a very very strange Pokemon indeed, but has more uses than you can think.

Competitive Pokemon 8

Pichu

Overview
To be honest, Pichu is one of my favorite Pokemon, not just because of the fact it has one weakness being Ground. You could always Skill Swap to it for no weaknesses with Levitate. Pichu has not seen much shine in spite of it’s big brothers, Pikachu and Raichu, and it’s stats may be below average, but in this world, any Pokemon can do pretty much anything.

Moves and Items
Pichu@Life Orb, Heal Ribbon, Earth Plate (Correct me if I am wrong here)

Nasty Plot
Nasty Plot is generally your main boosting Move here. Get in around two of these and Pichu’s tiny Special Attack will be near that of an Alakazam on a rampage.

Grass Knot
Grass Knot brings back memories of where with my Pichu I used to Grass Knot Rhyperiors and they were strictly confused on how it was a one hit KO. Well, Grass Knot deals damage based on weight, in this case, many Ground types are heavy, and if they aren’t they’ll still take considerable damage, possibly an OHKO with Nasty Plot set up. In other words this Move is for the Rock and Ground types and nothing else.

Thunderbolt
Thunderbolt is what all Electric types should have, 95 base power with 100 accuracy and STAB is near the power of a Thunder. Check the range too, gotta love Thunderbolt.

Signal Beam
Signal Beam is for hitting Grass Psychic and Dark, namely Grass considering you could barely hurt it. It can also Confuse, which is not that helpful in the Arena… your enemy will be rushing around aimlessly making it hard to aim, and Confusion is not the best choice unless you have them locked with Mean Look. Signal Beam is for the Grass types generally.

Role and Uses
Pichu as a baby obviously doesn’t take hits well, nor does it deal much damage, which is why you rely on mainly Nasty Plot. Plus that, there’s not much a Move except Captivate (which is found only on “cute” Pokemon) that can drop your Special Attack nor is there a Status, so yeah. There’s also Lightningrod in case someone has a Discharge going on or any other Electric-typed move.

Conclusion

Pichu is a useful baby. Can do a few things too.

Competitive Pokemon 9

Zangoose

Overview
Zangoose is among the many Hoenn Pokemon I have met and used back in Emerald. Zangoose going through generations got many great things to it. It’s a very huge threat especially in The Arena. With Swords Dance, Toxic Boost and Facade, surviving is not the fate of all Zangoose rampages through. However, Zangoose is limited to mainly physical Moves, and if you have trouble getting up close you pretty much have no use for Zangoose.

Moves and Items
Zangoose@ Toxic Orb

Close Combat
Close Combat handles the Rocks the Steels the Normals the Darks the Ices. Great coverage.

Swords Dance
Swords Dance with Toxic Orb, yeah your Attack will exceed 500. Prepare for rotchet lownchur.

Facade
Facade is the key to this set. Facade is STAB for Zangoose, doubled in power by Swords Dance and quadrupled in power by being Poisoned, and then further doubled by Toxic Boost. Poison abuse is Zangoose, and Facade will OHKO most everything that doesn’t resist it. You will rip a huge chunk of HP out of their Pokemon.

Ice Punch or Shadow Claw
Ice Punch is to take off the Dragons, the Flying-types the Ground types and the Grass types while Shadow Claw destroys Ghosts that Close Combat and Facade cannot. May lack coverage though but at least nothing is immune to you.

Role and Uses
Zangoose hits extremely hard and nothing else, Facade will tear apart everything, point blank.
So why not?

Conclusion
For a Pokemon that doesn’t see that much use other than some role-playing or so, Zangoose could be considered but it does not have good Defense and could easily be wiped out by Clear Smog Haze or a bulky Fighting type that OHKOs it. You need to be fast with your Moves to use Zangoose efficiently.

Looking good so far, Jay! Why don’t you have some sort of a directory for easy access? Perhaps link us to each post in a convenient location on the first post?

Editing the first post for that I can’t say would be too brilliant for me, I’m posting them all seperately because I’m not that advanced when it comes to Forums. I’m learning at the moment but for now I’ll only post them seperate, page through page. I doubt I was one to organize things too well.

Click the title of any post to get a link directly to it. To rename a URL, you’ll have to type:

(Example.)

[code:2kskzpbl]Hitmonlee

And it should look like this (without the quotes):

> [Hitmonlee](http://pmuniverse.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=10860#p155519:2kskzpbl)

You don't have to do it, but hey, just a suggestion. :3

Oh, Arceus no, I won’t do that. I’m going to make a lot of sample Pokemon, and they’re all sitting in this thread, not seperate topics. I just can’t do that. Thank you otherwise though.

Competitive Pokemon 10

Feraligatr

Overview
Feraligatr is the final evolution of Totodile and remains a pure Water-type. Apparently though despite all this it’s weaker Moves get a nice Sheer Force boost. Feraligatr can attack mainly physically but if you want throw in around one Special based Move, Feraligatr can use Sheer Force well with Ice Beam and Crunch.

Moves and Items
Feraligatr@Heal Ribbon, Family Items, Dusts, Life Orb

Crunch
Crunch takes care of the Ghosts and Psychics, and is also Sheer Force boosted to let you bite other things too. Overall, the small coverage should not be your concern, it should be the fact Sheer Force is helping it.

Ice Beam
Ice Beam came when the Water-types were telling each other they didn’t like Grass types. How did they express this? By turning their water into hard cold ice and blasting it at the Grass types. It’s Grass purposes only, use it for a ranged attack at what your Water-type STAB can already hit, did I mention Sheer Force boosts this too? Geez man, stop haxing your Abilities.

Aqua Tail
Aqua Tail is your powerful Water-type STAB. Please do use it as a spray to hit things with your raging tail of waves. Unfortunately despite not getting a Sheer Force boost, STAB kinda puts it from 90 base power to over 100, same with Ice Beam and possibly your Crunch, so feel grateful for these power boosts.

Earthquake or Brick Break
Do you want to knock off Electric? Or do you want to hit Steel Dark Normal hard? It’s up to you. Earthquake takes care of Electrics like those pesky Electabuzz and Brick Break handles the Slaking well, and because of Sheer Force, it gets a power boost but you are not destroying Screens anymore.

Role and Uses
Sheer Force! Sheer Force! Sheer Force!

Conclusion

For the power extent of this alligator might as well train some levels to get the Moves Sheer Force allows you to use.

Competitive Pokemon 11

Raichu

Overview
Raichu isn’t really my favorite, I mean, a few nice sprites of it but I don’t see much on it. Well, at least it can now use Brick Breaks, Thunder, Focus Blast… and some other things. But I don’t feel Raichu like that. Just not the most appealing Pokemon to me. Regardless I have a nice gift of what it can do, this set being from it’s little brother Pichu who is the only reason Pikachu and Raichu can use Nasty Plot. Those two should thank Pichu.

Moves and Items
Raichu@Life Orb, Heal Ribbon, Weather Band

The reason Weather Band is here is because of Thunder. 75 accuracy is not a big deal, but it is in Sun and Sandstorm and Hail when it’s cut to 50%. Hold a Weather Band, unequip during rain and equip during other weather.

Nasty Plot
Nasty Plot has drifted onto Raichu from the evil baby that makes the nastiest plots Pichu. It will make your Special Attack insane, and will do well for some striking action. Raichu’s not the best Special Attacker but it’s movepool sucks too, might as well use Nasty Plot.

Focus Blast
Focus Blast appeared when a Pikachu found a Thunderstone and tried to Brick Break it, instead it evolved and learned Focus Blast and began shooting everything in it’s path. Simply put Focus Blast is Fighting coverage. Sweet with Nasty Plot, don’t let the accuracy get to you though. It’s fine.

Thunder
Thunder , grab a Weather Band and Thunder all that oppose you, and the range is insane. Use Weather Band to block off accuracy drops done by weather and also blocks you from being hurt when you consider all you need for a level 1 Raichu is a Soothe Bell and a Thunderstone. You’re probably not going to be too high of a level, a lot of people evolve early for a Tiny Mushroom Thunderbolt but also may be disappointed when there is the fact Raichu learns NOTHING leveling up rather than it’s main starting moves.

Grass Knot
Grass Knot makes a return to the Chu family for bricking the Ground types. You’ll have good coverage with this set. Use Grass Knot on mainly things that are heavy like any (horribly rare in Arena) Rhyperior that wish to Drill Run you or Earthquake you.

Role and Uses
If you want this set go grab TMs and Big Mushrooms.

Conclusion
Raichu like I said isn’t my best Pokemon to use, but I’m sure you can use the guy. He’s good, trust me.

Competitive Pokemon 12

Machoke

Overview
What really attracted me to this guy was his HG/SS sprite… I mean it’s awesome. Anyway, Machoke can do some things Machamp can do, other than Stone Edge. Machoke has Guts AND No Guard together. Yes, he is capable of destroying things. DynamicPunch with Guts and STAB and No Guard’s no miss thing, you better stock up on any Move that is strong but misses alot, No Guard is the right thing. Yeah, Machop family is likely to always carry DynamicPunch and for good reason, you get it at level 45 by the way. Useful I guess.

Moves and Items
Machoke@Flame Orb

You want a Flame Orb to get Guts going. …That’s about it.

DynamicPunch
DynamicPunch is what all the Machop family will be running. Smack them hard with 150 base power and Confuse them, very few Pokemon are living this one.

Ice Punch
Ice Punch should be used on most Fighting types as well, get rid of Flying Dragon Ground and Grass. Nice coverage already.

Rock Slide
Rock Slide takes down Charizard and also numerous Bugs that you cannot hit.

Fire Blast / Fire Punch
Fire Blast is for No Guard abuse with good power compared to Machoke’s special attacking, and Fire Punch is for your physical stuff and Skarmory and Forretress.

Role and Uses
Machoke is a good powerhouse, you can always equip Eviolite to take less damage too. Machoke’s a cool Mon.

Conclusion

Machoke… is a great Pokemon with No Guard. Make yourself at home with it, because Machoke is totally recommended.

Competitive Pokemon 13

Seviper

Overview
Seviper is a Poison-type Pokemon. Poison-type Pokemon barely ever face any use. However, take note that Seviper has a nice 100 Attack and Special Attack, 4 less than an Infernape’s mixed attacking. So yeah, Seviper can do a lot of things. And since it’s a pure type, you’re facing… Ground and Psychic. What’s fine about this very beautiful snake is Shed Skin, you recover from status by simply basic attacking to heal it off. Free heal, no wasting items or moves.

Moves and Items
Seviper@Life Orb / Heal Ribbon / Poison Dust

Aqua Tail
Aqua Tail is a fine Water type spray, you’re also taking out Ground, Rock, and Fire. Useful for that coverage.

Coil
Coil can be used to deal big damage, boosting your Attack, Defense, and Accuracy. AQUA TAIL PLEASE.

Flamethrower
Flamethrower puts the Steels Grass and Ice in check. You’re mixed, so appreciate the Special Attack stat.

Sucker Punch
Sucker Punch is to deal with the Psychic types you’ll have problems with. Good power too, pair this with Coil and you’re good to go.

Role and Uses
As mentioned before, Poison-types barely ever see any usage. Seviper is one of the very few Pokemon that can make it to the top.

Conclusion
Overall it would be nice to see this guy used sometime. Seviper has potential.
