Welcome to MrJustified’s Arena Tips.
This guide is solely based on strategies and tips in the Arena, and I will post even better tips occasionally.
Let’s begin.
Competitive Pokemon 1
Overview
Salamence is a Dragon and Flying-type Pokemon. You would likely see why this Pokemon is recommended, it has very fine Attack and average HP to go with it. It has Moxie, so that means KOing will only grow easier and easier (considering you have no enemies running around with Clear Smog). It is also noted that due to this Dual-typing, it is 4x weak to Ice typed attacks. That means any Ice Beams coming your way is going to hurt bad. The suggested kind of Moves and held Item you want are;
Moves and Items
Salamence@Life Orb / Weather Band / Persim Band
Outrage
Outrage is a Move that basically a whole chunk of Pokemon can get, but even more useful on a Dragon. Persim Band is included in this kind of strategy to completely shrug off the Confusion you get when you finish your rampage. It’s hit-box is also very fine, good luck getting up close though.
Flamethrower or Fire Fang
Flamethrower is for some range and good power as well, no worries considering there are no Natures. Mixed attacking is never a bad idea when your stats are all neutral and to the max. You will not be getting the precious Moxie boosts though to it.
Fire Fang is less power, but you can flinch AND Burn, it is mainly recommended for the Moxie boost, but again good luck getting up close. Other than Moxie, not much use for it unless you run Dragon Dance (which is pretty useless when you consider Moxie.)
Earthquake
Earthquake is something that most Pokemon should be running, if they’re the kind of attacker Salamence is. Besides, it’s great range, and great coverage! Who wouldn’t want to leave their enemies… quaking in fear?
Hydro Pump
Hydro Pump will take a few Heart Scales but it most likely well worth it. Hydro Pump will hit Charizard nicely and also any Ground-types that you can’t hit, generally additional coverage.
Role and Uses
The Salamence set is meant for mainly solo purposes, considering Salamence can really punch holes in different kinds of teams, PMD or not.
Life Orb is for more power to what you already have, but probably not the best idea when you consider you’ll be losing some HP each hit, but it shouldn’t take too many hits to knock out a Pokemon.
Weather Band is to generally escape the Hail or Sandstorm damage. Not much use though when there is to consider being above level 45 tops can ensure survival in that kind of weather, still annoying though.
Persim Band is only for Outrage hax. Thrash is… not that much recommended. Who uses Normal-type Moves on a Dragon anyway?
Conclusion
Well guys, thanks for taking your time to read these and others I may post! (This is for the Arena. Please do not reply with things such as maybe how things were nerfed, after all, a good 67% of battlers in Arena can deal with it.)
Thanks in advance! Salamence is a Pokemon that can be used appropriately in The Arena but just keep a check on those Ice-types.
